Carson blew glass in Seattle for over five years and has really missed it since he's lived in Austin, where glassblowing is not nearly as big. Until Eastside Glass Studio opened (and just blocks from our house!), there really wasn't a place for him to rent time for a reasonable amount of money. So for Christmas, I got him a spot in their intermediate glassblowing class so he could brush up on skills and get back into it!
We recently went to one of their "Hot Glass Cold Beer" events in collaboration with their neighbors Hops and Grain (and the delicious Austin Daily Press was there serving sandwiches and making me wish I hadn't already eaten!) If you haven't checked out this (free and I think somewhat monthly?) event, you should!
For $10, you get a Hops and Grain glass and 4 tickets for beer. Unfortunately, they only had two on tap (the Alt and the Pale Dog), but the Greenhouse beers listed on their board are what I was really interested in trying...
I love watching glass being transformed before our very eyes!
