the tuesday that should have been (much) fatter

Mark my words: I will celebrate Mardi Gras in New Orleans next year!  I've been wanting to make the pilgrimage for some time now, but this year I felt especially forlorn.  Even the alligator boudin and gumbo from Banger's Sausage House didn't help.  And the compilation of Fat Tuesday events I posted in Culturemap made me feel worse, if anything.

Banger's had promised swamp rat (nutria!? Not something I would look forward to eating, but would probably try for novelty purposes...) but ran out, and the wild boar they'd advertised was also nowhere to be seen.  But the boudin and gumbo you see above was delicious!  This was my first time finally making it over to Rainey Street's token beer garden, and now I can't wait to return and try some items from their regular menu (and a few more of the 101 nicely curated beers on tap!)

Until next year: laissez les bon temps rouler!
