You might remember my recent blog post about my friend J's Indiegogo campaign to publish his second graphic book in Japan. Well, he raised even more than his set goal and is currently in production to get it published this summer! I just received this package in the mail with "kokuto" mineral-rich black rock sugar from Ishigaki Island.. it's said to be responsible for the longevity of Okinawans, whose diet mainly consists of seaweed, tofu, and pork!
J recommends using this sugar in coffee and tea or even just munching on it... and I'm going to find some way to use this even more creatively in a dish, and you can bet I'll tell you all about it! :) Can't wait for Life is Sweet to arrive...arigatou J!
